Crochet Hacked Jeans
As any parent will be quick to tell you, children outgrow their clothes far too quickly! Often, they’ll outgrow clothes before they can wear them out, and those jeans that fit perfectly last week are suddenly too short.
Crochet to the rescue!
This is a very basic tutorial and is specific to working with denim, but it’s safe to say my kids will not have jeans that are too short (or too boring) any time in the near future! I use a 2mm hole punch, which makes a hole just large enough to squeeze a 5mm hook into.
I learned the swatch method of measuring the holes from Emma Friedlander-Collins, and I highly recommend her book Crochet Hacking. She takes the guess work out of working with different styles and fabrics to upcycle garments and make yourself a truly unique wardrobe!
