About Me
Hi there! I’m Jess, aka Eclectic Jess, and I’m a crochet designer, mom, partner, feminist, and subpar gardener. I believe in following creative urges and letting inspiration take the lead in the creative process - to make what you want to, not what others tell you to. I love keeping a visible yarn stash so that I’m always prepared for when creativity strikes. Often, I take inspiration from food and nature to create things that emanate feelings of fantasy & playfulness.
My grandma taught me to crochet as soon as I could hold a hook and sit still long enough to make a few stitches. While she also tried to teach me knitting and sewing, I discovered an affinity for crochet and glue guns, and they’ve stuck with me throughout my life. My relationship with some crochet hooks is older than my relationship with my husband!
Crochet has always been there for me as a way to channel feelings of celebration, mourning, introspection, or just the desire to make something weird or new. Even after 30 years of crochet, I find that I’m still learning new techniques and stitches - it certainly never gets boring! Having a creative outlet is such an important part of the human experience, and I love encouraging others to embrace their creativity and find joy in making something.
