Heart Appliques
These little crocheted hearts can be made in 3 sizes. Attach the appliques to any project to add a bit of love, or give them out as a kind gesture.

Materials:
G hook (4.25mm)
Yarn needle to weave in ends
A small amount of worsted weight yarn in your chosen color(s)
Stitches/Abbreviations:
Magic Circle (mc)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Increase (inc) - single crochet increase
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Half Treble Crochet (htr) - y/o x2, insert hook, y/o, pull through, y/o draw through 2 loops, y/o, draw through 3 loops
Treble Crochet (tr) - y/o x2, insert hook, y/o, pull through, (y/o draw through 2 loops) x3
Notes
Stitches shown in parentheses ( ) will be made into the same stitch of the previous row.
To make a large heart, follow the directions for a medium and continue to complete Round 4.
If a number appears before a stitch abbreviation, make that many of the indicated stitches into the same stitch (ex. 2dc means to make 2 double crochet stitches in the same stitch)
Small Heart (2”)
Round 1: mc, ch 2 (does not count as a stitch). Dc 12 into the circle. Join to first dc and pull tight. (12)
Round 2: Ch 1, dc in the same stitch. (tr, tr, htr), (dc, hdc), inc, inc, (hdc, dc, ch1), (dc, hdc), inc, inc, (hdc, dc), (htr, tr, tr), (dc, ch 1, st sl in the same stitch). Do not join to the beginning of the round. Finish off.
Medium Heart (3.5”)
Round 1: mc, ch 2 (does not count as a stitch). Dc 12 into the circle. Join to first dc and pull tight. (12)
Round 2: Ch 1, sc and hdc in the same stitch. 2dc in each of the next 10 stitches. Hdc, sc in the last stitch. Join to first sc and pull tight. (24)
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in the same stitch. (hdc, dc, htr), (tr, tr), (tr, tr, htr), dc, dc, hdc, hdc, sc, sc, hdc, (dc, htr, tr), (htr, dc), hdc, sc, sc, hdc, hdc, dc, dc, (htr, tr, tr), (tr, tr), (htr, dc, hdc), sc. Sl st in the same stitch. Do not join to the beginning of the round. Finish off or skip to Round 4 for a larger heart.
Large Heart (4.5”)
Begin by making the medium heart, then move on to Round 4:
Round 4: Sl st in 1st sc of Round 3. Sc in the next stitch. (dc, htr), 2tr, 2tr, 2tr, 2htr, 2dc, hdc, hdc, sc in the next 7 stitches. Hdc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2dc), hdc, sc in the next 7 stitches. Hdc, hdc, 2dc, 2htr, 2tr, 2tr, 2tr, (htr, dc), sc, sl st in last st and finish off.
